Data anonymization is a process that alters personally identifiable information (PII) in such a way that it can no longer be used to identify an individual. This can be accomplished through various techniques like removing specific identifying values from data sets, generalizing identifying values, or introducing noise or perturbations to the data, making it impossible to trace back to a particular individual.
