CASB stands for Cloud Access Security Broker. It is a type of cybersecurity solution that monitors and controls the cloud applications and services used by an organization’s employees. CASBs typically function by routing web traffic through a forward or reverse proxy, enabling them to inspect and enforce policies on cloud application usage. CASBs are particularly useful for managing Shadow IT and limiting employees’ access to or activities within certain SaaS applications, but they do not monitor third-party activities in the cloud, such as shared documents or email.
